As part of the Libraries ROCC program, Astoria and Seaside libraries will share their collections through interlibrary loan. All library card holders may take advantage of this aspect of the grant.
What may I borrow from Seaside Library?
Astoria Library patrons may request books and audiovisual materials from the Seaside Library. Patrons may not request titles owned by the Astoria Library in the requested format. Astoria and Seaside libraries will not circulate New materials, periodicals, and items from non-circulating collections such as Reference and Astoriana through interlibrary loan.
How many Seaside items may I request?
Patrons may have up to 3 active requests at any given time. Active requests include items that have arrived and items that have been requested but have not yet arrived.
How do I request Seaside materials?
Find titles by searching the Seaside Library catalog: Follow the "Search Seaside" link from the Astoria Library home page, or go to www.seasidelibrary.org.
Submit a request form to library staff. Click here to fill out and submit an electronic request form, or pick up a paper request form at the Library.
Can I use my library card at the Seaside Library?
You may use your library card only at the issuing library: Astoria Library cards do not work at the Seaside Library, and vice versa. The items you request will be sent to your home library by courier, at which point you may check them out.
How long will I wait for my requests to arrive?
The time it takes to fill a request will vary according to the availabilty of the item and frequency of shipments. Currently, shipments between the two libraries will occur at least once a week. Both libraries are most appreciative of Northwest Regional ESD's agreement to assist with the transport of library materials between the libraries.
In what ways will this service continue when the grant funding is completed?
Ultimately, local funding will need to be found to continue these services.
Libraries ROCC! is supported in whole or part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Oregon State Library.
